Fall River Planning Board tables contested Bark Street roadway plan

Planning Board · Meeting of August 12, 2026

Fall River Planning Board tables a contested road plan over ledge-blasting fears near old foundations. City Engineer Dan Aguilar told the board the Bark, Norwood and Monarch streets roadway extension, which would open seven deed-restricted single-family lots barred from accessory dwelling units, still awaits Department of Community Utilities and fire department sign-off. Resident Jeremy Corrigal of 146 Elizabeth Street said "every resident" becomes "an abutter" once new roads cut through an established neighborhood, citing rejected proposals on the site in 2004, 2006 and 2021.

Vice Chair Michael Farias confirmed the developer, not the city, would cover 100 percent of construction costs. The board voted 5-0 to table that item and, separately, tabled the Spring Street roadway reconstruction for a fifth straight meeting, plus surety-release requests for the King Phillip Estates and Highland Woods subdivisions, while unanimously endorsing four routine Form A plans on New Hall, Jones and Buffington streets.
