Fall River Enters Holiday Week With No Major City Hall Announcements

With the July Fourth holiday approaching and sources across town largely silent, Fall River closes out the workweek's final Monday without major announcements from City Hall, the schools, or the library's events calendar.

TOWN HALL

The city's News Flash feed carried no new press releases or department announcements in this coverage window. Standing notices on the town homepage include the 2026 paint disposal schedule, the ongoing Columbia Street one-way conversion (Broadway to Milliken Boulevard, heading easterly), and the Route 79-Davol Street Corridor Improvements project, which continues to affect traffic patterns on Davol Street northbound. Residents with questions about those projects can reach City Hall at 508-324-2000.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Fall River Public Library is operating on its summer schedule through Labor Day: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed Saturdays. The library recently added two new museum pass destinations — the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, R.I., and the House of the Seven Gables in Salem — bringing more free and reduced-rate options to cardholders. The library also now offers online access to the Fall River Herald News archive from 1926 through 1979 through its growing local history collection. Borrowers can also check out wifi hotspots, Nintendo Switch Lites, bicycles, and ukuleles through the library's "library of things" program.

ELSEWHERE IN THE NEWS
