Great Feast of the Holy Ghost Returns to Kennedy Park Aug. 26

DATELINE — FALL RIVER

Fall River's Great Feast of the Holy Ghost, one of the largest Portuguese cultural festivals in New England, returns to Kennedy Park starting Wednesday, Aug. 26, according to previews published this week by two outlets. The city, meanwhile, posted a demolition notice for the former police station and opened public comment on two draft planning documents.

The city's official News Flash feed carries a Police Station Demolition Notice tied to the former police headquarters. Fall River is also collecting public comment on its FY25 Draft Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), the annual review required for the city's federal housing and community development grants, and on a draft Open Space and Recreation Plan covering 2026 to 2036.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Fall River Public Library says it has expanded its local history offerings, adding online access to the Fall River Herald News from 1926 to 1979 as part of its growing digital archive. The library has also added two new museum pass options, the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, Rhode Island, and the House of the Seven Gables in Salem, joining its existing lineup of museum, zoo and aquarium passes available for checkout.
