Fall River Public Library Launches Summer Hours and New Museum Passes

The Fall River Public Library is shifting to summer hours starting mid-June and has added two new museum passes and a digitized run of the historic Fall River Herald News to its growing collection of free public resources.

The library moves to its summer schedule — Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Saturdays closed — running from mid-June through Labor Day. Patrons who rely on Saturday visits should plan accordingly through the summer.

Two new venues have joined the library's free and reduced-rate museum pass program: the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, R.I., and the House of the Seven Gables in Salem. Passes can be reserved online through the library's Museum Passes page; the full list now includes aquariums, historic sites, parks, and zoos.

On the research side, the library has launched online access to the Fall River Herald News from 1926 through 1979, adding to its existing local history collection that already includes historical maps, yearbooks, and city directories. A new language-learning database, Transparent Language, is also now available free to cardholders.
